One piece of gear whether you are on a roadtrip, a camping trip, or living that vanlife in your adventure van often overlooked, is a good dog leash. If you’re a traveler with a dog, then you know that picking up after them is essential. That’s why it’s important to have a dog leash that includes a poop bag holder. This way, you can always have a bag on hand to clean up after your pup. Additionally, if you’re tethering your dog to an RV or table while you’re eating out or having a coffee, look for a leash with a strong clip that can handle being tugged on, I am not a fan of plastic clips go for metal.

One of our favorite leash brands is ZeeDog (affiliate link). I particularly like their ZeeDog hands-free leash. As you can sling it over your shoulder or around your waist to keep your dog close at hand while your hands are full.
Also, on long walks it keeps your shoulders from getting tired. They also have nice dog waste bag dispensers attached to the leash, so we are never caught without waste bags.
As well as their leashes, we use their harnesses to keep Woodford comfortable on long walks, and so we don’t have to worry about him hurting his neck. We can also use a seatbelt retainer to keep him safe in the back seat.

Because the waste-bag holder is attached, you won’t ever be caught without a way to clean up after your pet.
Long Rope Leash for Camping
I am not a fan of tying up my dog unsupervised. Having a longer tether that you can give them the run of the camp while you are around is nice. It gives your dog freedom to explore, while keeping them under control. I use a 22 foot Mycicy Long Rope Leash (affiliate link) when we are camping or at the beach.
BONUS: Spiral Ground Anchor
I normally anchor Woodford to the rescue points on the truck. But when I am at the beach and want to keep Woodford contained away from our spiral ground anchor, it is nice to have one. Just twist it into the sand or dirt to provide a secure anchor point.
Also, give it a tug, for the most part I haven’t had a problem, but in really loose sand the corksrew wasn’t long enough.
