At Van Versus Dog we help RVers, Overlanders, Boondockers, Outdoors People, Dog Owners, and just about anyone who visits make decisions about what equipment, sites, or other products to services to buy. We try to test out everything we are looking at buying and why. Or we at least talk about what we have found and for whatever reasons didn’t buy. We won’t just refer to other users for the sake of getting a commission.
We believe that it’s not unethical to get paid for your efforts or at least cover your expenses.
So here is how we may use affiliate links.
Affiliate Links
Sometimes when we recommend a product, we’ll link to the company’s website using what’s known as an affiliate or referral link. If you end up buying a product that you found via our link, we get a commission from the vendor. It’s typically a small thank you.
Sometimes that commission is just a few dollars; sometimes it’s a little more. Sometimes it’s a one-time commission; sometimes it’s a rolling commission — so if you sign up for a monthly subscription service we might get a piece of that monthly fee.
That referral doesn’t cost you a thing. The entire commission comes out of the vendor’s pocket not yours.
And it goes without saying that we’ll never recommend a product simply because it pays us a commission if we found something we think is cool, even if we didn’t buy it, we think it’s worth pointing out.
So we recommend products that we’ve personally used, come highly recommended by trusted peers, or pique our interest.
So that you can easily tell when we’re using an affiliate link, we’ll do our best to put (affiliate link) after it.
All good? Great!
